Learn about frogs

Frogs are small amphibians that live both on land and in water. They have long hind legs that allow them to hop and jump. Frogs have smooth, moist skin and big eyes. They do not have tails like tadpoles. They start life as eggs in water, then grow into tadpoles with tails before becoming adult frogs. Frogs breathe through their nostrils while on land and through gills when under water. They use their sticky tongues to catch insects and other small prey. Different species of frogs live in habitats all over the world. Their loud croaking sounds can often be heard near ponds and wetlands. Some frogs secrete poison from their skin as a defense against predators.
