The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the largest cat species in the world. This powerful predator has a muscular body with orange fur featuring dark vertical stripes. Tigers are solitary hunters that stalk and ambush their prey, which includes large animals like deer, wild pigs, and buffalo. An apex predator, the tiger plays an important role in balancing local ecosystems. Sadly though, tiger populations are decreasing due to habitat loss and poaching. Conservation efforts are underway to try to protect this majestic animal. Tigers can be found living in various forest habitats across Asia, from India to Siberia. With proper protection, hopefully future generations will still be able to see tigers in the wild.
