Grapes are small, oval-shaped fruits that grow in clusters on vines. There are many varieties that range dramatically in color, size, taste and texture. The two main types are seedless and seeded.

Grapes have smooth, thin skins covering a juicy pulp. Their colors include green, red, black, yellow, pink and purple. Some popular varieties are the Thompson seedless green grape, the deep purple Concord, and petite sweet Jupiter grapes. The skin contains antioxidants while the pulp provides hydration and nutrients.

Grapes grow best in temperate climates, thriving in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil under ample sunshine. They flourish in bunches tapering from broad at the top to a single grape at the bottom. Grapevines CLIMB trellises or arbors, producing abundant fruit for fresh eating, juices, jams, raisins and wine.

The smooth thin skin yields to a burst of sweet, tart juice within. Grapes are highly versatile – eaten fresh or dried as raisins, blended into jellies and juices or crushed for wine. Their luscious taste ranges from citrusy to honey-like. Grapes are nutritious, convenient and among the most flavorful fruits worldwide.
