Nobita is the main character in the popular Japanese anime and manga series Doraemon. He is an elementary school boy who is lazy, uncoordinated and clumsy. Nobita often gets failing grades in school, bullied by classmates like Gian and Suneo, and scolded by his mother for his poor performance.

Nobita’s appearance reflects his character. He is always depicted wearing a yellow shirt with a white collar, black shorts and blue sneakers. He has short messy black hair with bushy eyebrows and large circular glasses. Nobita has a timid and weak demeanor, often crying when faced with difficult situations.

His life changes when a robotic cat named Doraemon is sent from the 22nd century to help him. Doraemon has a four-dimensional pocket which contains futuristic gadgets that help Nobita solve problems at school and home. Though he continues to misuse Doraemon’s gadgets and shirk his work, Nobita has a kind heart and usually learns his lesson in the end.

While lazy and clumsy, Nobita’s imagination and honesty make him a likeable character. His dreams of becoming stronger and more confident depict the universal childhood wishes that make him relatable. Nobita’s adventures with his friend Doraemon capture the imaginations of children worldwide.
