Tom and Jerry is a classic American animated series that centers on the rivalry between a cat named Tom and a mouse named Jerry. The cartoon features slapstick comedy as Tom relentlessly chases Jerry through a suburban home, often destroying objects in the process.

Tom is a gray and white domestic shorthair cat who is aggressive and scheming. Jerry is a small brown house mouse who manages to evade Tom’s plans, causing the cat frustration and pain in comical ways. Although they are adversaries, at times they display friendship and teamwork if it benefits both.

In each episode, Tom devises elaborate traps to catch Jerry like setting out cheese as bait or using complex machinery. However, Jerry always finds a way to turn the tables by outwitting and physically harming Tom instead. Their endless chase features humorous gags, violence and mishaps as Jerry triumphs again and again.

Even though no actual dialogue exists, the two characters exhibit amusing and expressive mannerisms. Their iconic chase sequence has entertained viewers for decades and is regarded as one of the best duo cartoons of all time with its classic cat and mouse rivalry.
